The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner confirms a former Iowa State running back was the drowning victim pulled from Lake Erie at Whiskey Island Monday afternoon.

Hiawatha Rutland of New York went missing Sunday evening after jumping off a boat.  He found himself in trouble and called out for help.

Rutland, 33, then went under water and did not resurface.

A female friend jumped in to try and rescue him, but nearly drowned herself before being pulled to safety.

Cleveland Firefighters and the Coast Guard searched for Rutland Sunday evening and Monday, before finding his body in about 25 feet of water.
