CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (WOIO) - Cuyahoga Falls Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) are investigating a homicide at a home in the 3000 block of Eighth Street.
Police say they received a call around 3:36 p.m. from the victim's daughter, who said she saw her mother lying on the ground in the backyard.
"She discovered her mother laying in the back portion of the driveway, and she was frightened to go out there so she called police," said Lt. Gary Merton, a detective with CFPD.
When they arrived, they found Amanda K. Russell, 40, dead in the backyard.
"She has wounds, but to get into anything more specific right now, I won't do that," Lt. Merton stressed.
Russell was on her cell phone around 2 p.m. so her body could not have been there long. Police say they have leads but cannot give any more information.
"I wouldn't say it's a domestic incident, but I will say that it's-our leads are specific. We don't think it's random," said Lt. Merton.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office has the body and will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. BCI and Police are investigating.
