Bama fans arrive in ATL ahead of game with W.V.

ATLANTA, GA. (WSFA) -

Crimson Tide fans brought their RVs and high hopes to Atlanta, Georgia, Friday morning with anticipation of a new season. They are eager to erase last year's disappointing end.

Shortly after daybreak in Atlanta Friday we found Billy Kitchens across from the Georgia Dome and his array of Bama souvenirs on the dashboard of his RV.

Among the crowd of crimson and white is a man by the name of Billy Kitchens. Kitchens says his third cousin is former Alabama quarterback Freddie Kitchens who played for the Tide from '93-'98. Freddie Kitchens is now an assistant coach with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals.

Freddie Kitchens' time at the Capstone was in the mid-1990's. Billy says there is no doubt it's a whole new ballgame since young Freddie commanded the offense.

"Since Saban's been there it certainly has been different. After Stallings we went through DuBose, Shula and Mike Price.. it was 10 years of misery," Kitchens said.

It should come as no surprise that Billy Kitchens has been a ticket season holder since 1987, and he's not alone.

There was also the Niceville, Florida, man named John DuBose who says he's been to every Alabama game, both home and away, for the last 16 years.

"We've gone to every game including to Hawaii twice. This will be our 199th game. I'm in the pool contracting business, so this is beginning to be our down time for us," said DuBose.

John DuBose and Billy Kitchens are among the 100 or so RVers who will make this parking lot home for the next two days. They're paying $150 per day to park across from Georgia Dome -- big bucks when you add it up but worth every penny for those who hang tough with the Tide.

"Last year ended on a bitter note but we're anxious to get started tomorrow against West Virginia and see how the season turns out," said Jimmy Henley.

Alabama takes on West Virginia in the Dome with a 2:30 p.m. Central kick off Saturday.

LSU went back to work this week in preparation for the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame. A win would be nice, but this is also a chance to get some freshman playing time to get ready for 2018. Well it'll come in practice only. "Those guys will get more reps. So I'll give them a couple of more reps at the end of a team period. It's sending the wrong message to our football team. It's all focus on winning the game. Exactly what we did last year," said LSU Head Coach Ed Org...More >>
