LORAIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A Lorain County couple has just what it takes to make retirement a bit sweeter.
Kathy and Robert Bunnell of Oberlin won $1,000,000 on the Ohio Lottery's 40th Anniversary Millions instant ticket.
A second-tier annuity prize, paid as $40,000 a year for 25 years, the Bunnells chose the cash option. They receive $355,000 after federal and state taxes totaling 29 percent.
Already retired from the chemical company BASF, Kathy said she bought the ticket from Discount Drug Mart #23. Robert, who retires from BASF in eight months, didn't believe it until he saw it for himself.
Kathy says the win will make retirement better. For right now they will sit on the windfall, relax and think about their next vacation spot since they like the Grand Canyon and the Bahamas.
The Ohio Lottery is actively seeking winners of all prize levels to share their stories. Players with an interest in telling theirs can contact the Ohio Lottery at www.ohiolottery.com/winners.
