Cleveland Police Officers are investigating a shooting on the city's east side. It happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday near Woodhill and Baldwin Roads.
Witnesses tell police the 17-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk, when the shooter pulled up next to him, jumped out of the car and shot him at close range.
A woman who witnessed the shooting told our Denise Zarrella that she found the victim outside of her front door.
"I was scared for him. All I wanted to do was don't let them move the body because we didn't know the extent of the gunshot wound, and we didn't know what kind of a gun he was shot with, so my thing was don't move him because bullets travel," said the witness.
Neighbors said they heard gunshots, and that the victim didn't live at the housing complex on Baldwin Road.
"He was just an innocent bystander. I don't know what happened, but I just know that the man was an innocent bystander, and he is a baby. He's only 17. He's a baby!" one witness said.
The victim's identity and condition have not been released.
Cleveland Police confirm they have a person of interest in custody, but they are still investigating.
