Indians send Verlander to bounce-back win

Cleveland (WOIO) - Danny Salazar looked like an ace on Wednesday night, and Justin Verlander was sent to the shower, this time without the selfie, as the Indians rocked the Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field, 7-0.

Salazar went the distance for his first complete game shutout, striking out nine, and his teammates gave him plenty of support, jumping on Verlander in the first inning, and never letting up.

Carlos Santana started the assault with a two-run homer in the first, and Lonnie Chisenhall and Yan Gomes added RBI's to double the lead in the fourth.

The Indians broke it open in the 7th, as Michael Bourn, Jose Ramirez and Michael Brantley provided back-to-back-to-back RBI's to deliver the dagger.
