TOLEDO, OH (WOIO) - The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued three people in Lake Erie near Toledo on Friday night.
Authorities say those rescued will remain unnamed.
At 7 p.m., a watch stander at Coast Guard Sector Detroit received notification from the Lucas County 911 dispatch of a capsized Jet Ski and three people in the water being pushed out into Lake Erie by strong winds.
Two rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Toledo, Ohio, were conducting training near the area and were redirected to assist. By the time the crew arrived, a good Samaritan had rescued two people. The crew aboard the 24-foot watercraft rescued the third person.
The crew took the two people from the good Samaritan boat and towed the Jet Ski to a nearby marina.
All three people were wearing life jackets and there were no injuries reported.
The Coast Guard reminds boaters to always wear life jackets while underway, and to always check the weather forecast before heading out onto the water.
