AMHERST, OH (WOIO) -

A four-year-old girl died at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital Tuesday morning, after a near drowning incident at her Amherst home last month.

Addison Kuhlman was rushed to the hospital on August 31 after falling into the family's backyard pool.

Her father found her and told police he thought she was in the basement watching tv.

He believes she must have been riding her bicycle with training wheels around the pool and accidentally fell in.

After pulling her from the water, her dad immediately called 911 and her mom, a nurse, started CPR.

Off-duty Amherst Firefighter Richard Gerena heard the firefighter call and responded to the scene and began assisting with CPR.

Amherst Police Officers tell 19 Action News this was an accident and no criminal charges will be filed.  They also offer their thoughts and prayers to the Kuhlman family.
