First District Cleveland Detectives are investigating a shooting which occurred on September 11, at 2:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of W. 116.
While on patrol, officers noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street and a female attempting to flag them down for assistance.
Seated on the front passenger side was a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his right side and left ankle. EMS transported the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center.
The two other people in the car, a male and female, informed officers that they were shot at while outside a home on W. 116, which was later discovered to be the suspect's residence.
According to a preliminary report, the trio was traveling west on W. 116, behind the suspect's vehicle. The victims said at some point the suspect made a quick turn and backed into a driveway without yielding to the victim's car.
An argument over the driving issue took place between the suspect and the trio of the other car. The victims drove away but returned to the suspect's residence and became involved in another argument.
Police say one of the victims ran toward the suspect and threw a bottle at the suspect's vehicle, cracking the windshield.
The suspect then began shooting at the male as he ran away but instead struck the male seated in the car.
The 27-year-old male suspect was placed under arrest. Officers say he holds a CCW permit.
An additional report was made for criminal damaging for the damage done to the suspect's windshield.
