ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal traffic crash.  The crash occurred at 1:32 a.m. Monday morning on West River Road, north of Russia Road.

Harold L. Brown, 31, of Elyria, was southbound on West River Road when he failed to negotiate a small curve. His Volvo traveled off the west side of the road and struck a landscaping wall, tree and a pole before overturning. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lorain County Coroner's Office.

Elizabeth A. Stanic, 31, of Elyria, was a right front seat passenger in the vehicle and she was transported to University Hospitals – Elyria Medical Center by Life Care EMS.  She was later transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Brown was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol appears to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
