LIMA, OH (WOIO) - 19 Action News has now obtained the full prison discipline record for TJ Lane, and it reveals more incidents not made public before that show twisted thinking and a lack of respect for authority.
Lane is serving a life sentence for killing three students in a shooting spree at Chardon High School. He escaped for a few hours last week from a prison in Allen County.
His prison record shows case after case of trouble behind bars.
Among the trouble, drawing himself with the word "killer" in a prison class. Notable, since at sentencing he wore a T-shirt with the word "killer."
Records also show a drug test indicated Lane had smoked pot behind bars. He also had taken the drug Dilantin, which is used to control seizures. Prison investigators found Lane ultimately admitted it, but it's unclear how he got the drugs.
Lane also was written up for things like being in the weight room where he didn't belong, giving himself tattoos, and more.
His punishment ranged from verbal reprimand, to recreation restrictions, to cell isolation, and disciplinary control.
Lane even made the staff furious in ways you might not expect. A teacher wrote, "No one wants to sit next to him since he does not wear deodorant."
Lane has been transferred to the most secure prison in Ohio, the super maximum prison in Youngstown.
