PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a suicide attempt along Route 20 in Pittsfield Township on Monday morning.
Troopers were called to the scene, along Route 20 just east of State Route 58, around 11 a.m.
Hugo Ramos, 28, was heading westbound on Rt. 20 when he pulled over, got out of the car and walked in front of a vehicle that was also traveling westbound.
The vehicle struck Ramos, who then took a container of gasoline out of his car. He ingested some of it, then poured the rest on his body and lit himself on fire.
Another driver stopped and extinguished the flames. Ramos was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by helicopter and he is in critical condition.
Ramos had three children in his car at the time of the incident. They were not harmed.
