Tony Stewart might be facing criminal charges in lieu of the death of Kevin Ward Jr. CBSSports.com's Evan Hilbert reports that New York state grand jury will now hold his fate in their hands.
The case had been transferred from Ontario County Sheriff's Department to Ontario County District Attorney, Michael Tantillo. USA Today quotes Tantillo as saying, "Upon my review of all of the information contained in the entire investigation, I have made the determination that it would be appropriate to submit the evidence to a grand jury, for their determination as to what action should be taken in this matter."
As for Stewart's thoughts on this decision he says, "I respect the time and effort spent by both the Ontario County District Attorney and the Sheriff's Office in investigating this tragic accident." Further more explaining, "I look forward to this process being completed, and I will continue to provide my full cooperation."
While the hearing is reportedly happening soon, details as to which witnesses will be called and when it will be held are being kept confidential.
