To assist the task force investigating the "Early Morning Rapist" believed responsible for at least two sexual assaults in Cleveland and Lakewood, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office is adding money to the Crime Stoppers reward fund for these cases.
The contribution from the Prosecutor's Office means that up to $10,000 will be available through Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
The Prosecutor's Office is using money obtained through forfeitures in criminal cases to offer this reward.
A woman was attacked and raped in Lakewood around 4:30 a.m. on August 30. A similar sexual assault took place in Cleveland around 5:25 a.m. on September 2.
Citizens who may have information regarding either attack are asked to call Crime Stoppers' 24-hour hotline at 216.252.7463. They can also leave a web tip through www.25crime.com or text TIP657 plus their message to CRIMES (274637).
All tips are made anonymously, and all information is relayed immediately to investigators.
The Cleveland Police Department is leading the task force investigating these crimes. Others members include the Lakewood Police Department, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.
