The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that they will place Greg Hardy on the Exempt/Commissioner's Permission List.
This comes hours after the Minnesota Vikings placed their start running back, Adrian Peterson on the same list. Hardy was arrested on charges of assault on a female and communicating threats in May. Hardy was found guilty by a Judge, but requested a jury trial that is schedule for November 17.
Hardy played in the Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the Panthers decided to deactivate Hardy for their Week 2 matchup against Detroit. The decision to deactivate him was on Head Coach Ron Rivera.
"Greg had the option to do this and he took it," Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said Wednesday.
Hardy will still be paid while he remains on the list.
