AKRON, OH (WOIO) - On Saturday, September 20, the University of Akron says they received a call for a suspicious package in the recreational center.
The call was placed at 3:42 p.m.
As a safety precaution, everyone inside the recreation center, field house and natatorium had to be evacuated while the three areas were thoroughly searched.
The university's police with the assistance of the Summit County Sheriff's Office looked for anything that may pose a threat and according to officers, nothing unusal was located.
School officials say the areas searched will remain closed for Satuday and will reopen on Sunday at noon.
There are no suspects at this time.
