NEW LEBANON, OH (WOIO) -

Four juvenile inmates are facing multiple charges after attempting to escape a detention center in New Lebanon on Saturday.

Around 7:15 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Center for Adolescent Services.

Preliminary investigation revealed that four juvenile inmates physically assaulted a staff member in the gymnasium. The juveniles then ran into the main hallway and attempted to break the security glass to escape. Additional juvenile staff members tried to restrain the juveniles to prevent the escape. In the process, another staff member was physically assaulted.

Officers from various agencies responded to assist, due to an alert being activated at the center. Eventually, the area was secured and all juveniles were detained and apprehended within the facility. According to the sheriff's office, once the incident was under control, all juveniles were accounted for and no one made it outside the secured facility.

Two staff members sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene by the New Lebanon Fire Department.

The four juvenile inmates involved were transported to the main Juvenile Justice Center.

They have been charged with felony assault, vandalism, and attempted escape. More charges could be coming as the incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit.

This is not the first escape attempt in September. Recently, five inmates escaped from the NorthWest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green, the Ashland County Jail in Ashland and Allen Correctional Institution in Lima. All five have since been captured.
