AKRON, OH (WOIO) - There was a yellow show of support today at the funeral for Akron bus driver Laura Zborowski.
A line of school buses parked outside the funeral services at Rhoden Memorial Home on Palmetto Ave.
The program for the service called Laura a kind-hearted person, a mother and recent breast cancer survivor. A quote says she died as she lived, putting the needs of others before her own.
Zborowski, 51, was killed last week when she was run over by her school bus at Middlebury Academy on Kent Street in Akron.
Officials says she was standing outside the bus doing a head count during an evacuation drill, when the vehicle started rolling.
She managed to push a 10-year old child to safety, before getting run over. The runaway bus stopped when it hit a tree.
Zborowski, of Akron, died at a local hospital from multiple injuries. No children were injured.
It is not known at this time if the parking brake was activated. The accident remains under investigation.
