NORWALK, OH (WOIO) - Norwalk Police Officers say a 57-year-old man was murdered by a career criminal he had befriended.
On Sunday evening, Norwalk Police Officers put out an alert for a possible kidnapping after James Berens was reported missing by neighbors.
The suspect was id'd as Shane Lambert, 39.
Lambert was spotted early Monday morning at a vacant house on Herman Avenue in Mansfield and was shot to death during a confrontation with police.
Berens' body was found Monday in a field off Washington Road, just west of Norwalk.
Police say he died a violent death inside his own car and was then dumped in the field.
The coroner is expected to release the cause of death on Tuesday.
