(RNN) - After weeks of anticipation, the United States and its international partners have begun military airstrikes in Syria as a part of their plan to combat ISIS. According to a tweet from Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby late Monday, the "US military and partner nation forces have begun striking ISIL targets in Syria using mix of fighters, bombers and Tomahawk missiles." A US Central Command statement elaborated that the Tomahawk missiles are being fired from the USS Arleigh Burke and USS Philippine Sea in the international waters of the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, and were complemented by fighter, remote and bomber aircraft.

After a chilly night of temperatures diving into the upper 30s in a few spots last night, today's recovery will mark the start of a spate of picture-perfect, fall weather.  Stem to stern sunshine will be the rule throughout the week with temperatures topping out today in the upper 60s and in the mid 70s at least through the weekend. ENJOY!
