An officer involved shooting is under investigation in Cleveland.
It happened Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 12:30 a.m.
Police say an officer was on scene at 582 E. 101st Street for a dead body, probable natural. While waiting for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner to arrive the officer got out of her patrol car to talk to family members.
That's when she saw three males running towards her. As the males approached, the officer saw a handgun in one suspects hand and at that time, the other two suspects turned around and ran the other way.
The officer drew her weapon as the male continued toward her. She ordered him to drop the weapon and get on the ground but he then raised his weapon and pointed it at her at which point the officer fired one shot.
The male then fled the area on foot through yards, the officer pursued him but was unable to locate him. The officer reported no injuries and no evidence was found indicating the suspect had been shot.
The female patrol officer is a three year veteran.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 18-20 years old, thin build, approximately 5'7".
