AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Forbes listed 19 opportunity cities where it's easier to make your mark in America and four of them are here in the Buckeye State, including one right in our backyard:
"We're coming out of from 2008 the recession and the rubber companies have made a comeback here," Brad Beckert, development engineering manager for the City of Akron told Forbes magazine.
Bridgestone and Goodyear are Akron's biggest employers. Besides being home to LeBron James the city also has the Austen BioInnovation Institute -- a collaboration between Akron Children's Hospital, First Energy, the Knight Foundation, Summa Health System and The University of Akron that focuses on biomedical devices and health care innovation.
Akron has a population of 198,100. You can buy a home for around $65,200 and the unemployment rate is at 6.1 percent.
