John Adams High School on Cleveland's east side was placed on lock down Wednesday morning after a student brought a loaded gun onto campus.
Someone saw the 17-year-old boy showing off the weapon and told the school security officer, who immediately reported it to the principal. Apparently the student had it in the bathroom, showing it off and attempting to sell it.
The loaded gun was found in his bookbag.
The student had friends open a side door so he could enter the building, explaining why the school's metal detectors and security guards did not catch him.
Chief of Security Lester Fultz sees a silver lining in the incident.
School officials then called Cleveland Police and his parents. No one was injured in the incident.
The case has been handed over to the prosecutor and charges are expected.
