Man struck while walking his dog on Mourning Dove

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - On Tuesday, September 24 at about 9:08 p.m. the Lake County Sheriff's and Concord Township Rescue responded to a call for a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Mountain Quail and Mourning Dove.

Officers arrived to find 43-year-old John Hetzer injured after being hit by a pickup truck.

A preliminary investigation reveals that 42-year-old Chalmers Glover, of Concord Township, was driving a 2012 Ford F150 eastbound on Mountain Quail at the time of the accident. Glover was attempting to turn left onto Mourning Dove. Apparently Glover didn't see Hetzer walking his dog in the southbound lane of Mourning Dove and struck him.

Hetzer's head struck the concrete roadway.

Authorities say Hetzer was wearing reflective clothing and a red flashing light at the time he was struck.

Hetzer was transported by Concord Township Fire Department to an awaiting Medivac Helicopter and then to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The crash remains under investigation.

At 11:45 p.m. Hetzer's condition was stable.
