Driver injured trying to evade gunman on E. 100

Fourth District Cleveland Detectives are currently investigating a shooting from Wednesday, September 24, which occurred about  6:30 p.m. at E. 100 and Miles Avenue.

Officers responded to the area for a male shot.

According to police, the victim left the scene and was later found sitting in a Yukon Denali parked at 7422 Harvard Ave.

The vehicle had several bullet holes located in the passenger side door with the window shot out, trunk, front driver seat and dashboard.

The victim sustained one gunshot wound to his lower right side and was transported by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center.

During an interview at the hospital, the victim told police that while parked on E. 100 near Miles, he observed a male approaching his vehicle on foot with his hands near his waistband.  He says he could tell the male had a gun, so he drove toward and passed the male.

In his rearview mirror he saw the male take out a handgun and begin firing.

A few moments later he says a male on a sports style motorcycle rode up next to the passenger side of his vehicle and said "Watch out, dude", at which time several more shots were fired at his vehicle.

The victim says he's unsure where the shots came from and does not know if the motorcycle operator was involved.

The victim could not provide a useful description of the suspect.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
