COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal one car accident that occurred at 2:57 a.m. on Saturday, September 27.
The incident happened on State Route 252, north of Redfern Road.
According to authorities, 22-year-old Brandyn Pino, of Columbia Station, was headed southbound on State Route 252 when he misjudged a curve in the roadway. The car traveled off the east side of the road and struck a ditch, overturned and struck a tree.
Pino was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lorain County Coroner's Office.
The vehicle involved, a 2003 Buick Ultra, sustained major damage and was towed from the scene by Protech Towing.
Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol does appear to be a factor.
The Columbia Township Fire Department also assisted troopers.
The crash remains under investigation.
