The five Cleveland Police Supervisors facing charges in connection with the November 2012 deadly police chase, will not be tried with the Cleveland Police Officer accused of firing 49 of the 137 shots.
Officer Michael Brelo is charged with two counts of voluntary manslaughter. His trial is scheduled to begin October 22.
The supervisors, Officers Randolph Dailey, Michael Donegan, Patricia Coleman, Jason Edens and Paul Wilson, are charged with two counts of dereliction of duty. Their trial date has not yet been set.
The chase began when officers saw a car speeding and heard what they thought was a gunshot.
The 28 minute chase ended in East Cleveland and 13 officers fired a total of 137 shots into Timothy Russell's vehicle.
Russell and his passenger, Malisssa Williams, were killed.
