Suspect in Canton gas station robbery arraigned

CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

A suspect in the Canton gas station robbery, that ended with two other suspects dead, has been arraigned on aggravated murder charges.

Darrell Newman was arrested Friday September 26. Canton police say he and two other men tried to rob the Marathon gas station on Ninth Street in Canton on Monday September 22.

The clerk on duty and the suspects got into a gun battle.  Two of the three suspects were killed and the clerk was shot in the leg and hip.

Newman pleaded not guilty to the charges.  Bond has been set at $4 million dollars.
