(CNN) - Rhode Island is reporting the first death connected with Enterovirus 68. The state's health department says a 10-year-old girl died last week with Enterovirus 68 and a staph infection. Health officials say the "rare combination" can cause severe illnesses in children and adults. Enterovirus 68 has been sending more children than usual to the hospital with respiratory issues. The CDC has confirmed more than 400 cases in 41 states. The virus seems to be most affecting children with a history of asthma or breathing problems.
