19 Action News is uncovering more about a fire that raged an hour after firefighters checked out an alarm and left.
It happened last week at the Close to Home day care center on Carnegie in Cleveland.
We've obtained Cleveland Fire dispatch recordings. They show crews responded to an alarm and found "nothing showing...nothing going on here."
Security video from a nearby business showed the first crews leaving after 2 1/2 minutes.
The fire chief just sent out a statement saying crews first checked alarm by looking in windows and walking around the building.
The chief calls what happened an "unfortunate incident". His office is still investigating to find out what exactly happened. And he wants all businesses to get a Knox Box, hardware that allows fire crews in a building anytime, so they don't have to break windows or doors to check.
Meantime, the cause of the fire is also under investigation. It appears it started above a dropped or suspended ceiling.
