Summit County: Jury selection continues in the trial for man accused of murdering girlfriend's parents

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Jury selection continues in Shawn Ford, Jr's murder trial. The process began on September 24.

The Akron man is accused in the brutal slayings of Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert.

Ford, who was 18-years old at the time of his arrest, was dating the Schobert's daughter Chelsea, when he beat them to death with a sledgehammer in their New Franklin home on April 2, 2013.

He is also accused of assaulting Chelsea on March 23, 2013 at a home in Akron.

Ford was indicted on numerous charges including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary,grand theft, and felonious assault.

Lawyers for both sides are still talking with potential jurors about their views on the death penalty and the issue of pretrial publicity affecting Ford's right to a fair trial in Summit County.

Ford, Jr. could get the death penalty if convicted.
