OLMSTED FALLS, OH (WOIO) - Norfolk Southern just clarified that a majority of the rail crossings in Olmsted Falls will be closed as well as one crossing in Olmsted Township for approximately one week.
Norfolk Southern says the closings are necessary in order to repair the rails and roadways.
Mayor Donegan of Olmsted Falls has given her administration the green light on designing an alternative traffic route to accommodate motorists who would be inconvenienced.
Mayor Donegan asks the community for patience as she works with Norfolk Southern to resolve the chronic problems of rail crossing blockage in the community.
Detour routes have been posted and drivers are being warned that traffic flow will be affected and to expect delays.
Affected crossings are:
- Mapleway Drive will be closed from October 9 through 17. The alternative route to use is Brookside or Columbia Roads.
- Lewis Road will be closed from October 10 through 17. The alternative route to use is Columbia Road.
- Stearns Road in Olmsted Township will be closed from October 8 through 14. The alternative route to use is Fitch Road overpass in Olmsted Township.
