LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Lorain Schools superintendent Tom Tucker says the situation at Admiral King elementary is improving and they could move back into the building by next weekend.
The school has been closed since October 1 for a strong smell of gas. It's still unclear what is causing the smell, but Columbia Gas has determined it is not pipeline gas.
Tucker updated the community today, saying they are installing equipment as suggested by the agencies involved.
Students have two scheduled off days on Friday, October 17 and Monday, October 20. Tucker is hopeful they can move back into the building over that weekend.
Tucker noted Admiral King attendance was 96.7% Wednesday in three separate elementary schools.
