COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - On October 10, a Summit County Sheriff Deputy made a surprising discovery, leading to a potentially significant amount of drugs being taken off the street.
While patrolling Coventry Township, Summit County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Knight came across a vehicle belonging to someone with an active warrant.
After knocking on the door of the East Pace Avenue home, Deputy Knight came face to face with 46-year-old Philippe Fritzke, a sex offender from Minnesota.
While questioning Fritzke, Deputy Knight detected an odor of ammonia, consistent with the odor associated with manufacturing of methamphetamines.
Fritzke gave consent to search the residence.
In just a short time, Deputy Knight located a meth lab in the basement.
The Summit County Drug Unit responded and located 25 more meth labs in the home.
Fritzke was arrested and charged with illegal manufacture of drugs.
In addition, Fritzke had active warrants in Minnesota for assault and failure to register as a sex offender.
He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
