MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -

A 47-year-old Mentor man is behind bars, accused of trying to lure an 11-year-old child into his car.

It happened on October 10 on Taft Street in Mentor.

Police say the child was walking the family dog when the suspect drove up and asked "want to get in?".

The child refused and the suspect sped off.

The child's parents called police with a description of the vehicle and officers found Steven Randall about 30 minutes later still driving around the same neighborhood.

Randall told them he was looking for an ex-girlfriend and admitted talking to a child.

Due to previous arrests for similar offenses and the age of the victim, Randall is charged with felony child enticement.
