Jefferson Elementary School closed due to fire

JEFFERSON, OH (WOIO) - Jefferson Elementary School is being closed for the rest of the day due to a minor fire with no injuries.

The fire started just before 11:00 a.m.

All students and staff were safely evacuated to Jefferson High School at 207 West Mulberry Street and parents may pick up their children in the auditorium.

If parents are unable to pick up their children, the normal bus schedule will run at 3:30 to take them home.

According to officials, the fire occurred in a small restroom in the Ashtabula County elementary school.

The cause is under investigation.
