Man arrested for posing as a cop

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - David Scofield was arrested for impersonating a police officer in Akron Monday night.

Around 10 p.m. an off-duty Akron Police officer saw a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria with a spotlight refusing to let him pass his vehicle.

The suspect swerved from lane to lane and when the off-duty officer finally did pass, the suspect used a spot light and flashed it on his vehicle several times.

Both Tallmadge and Akron Police Department pulled the suspect over.

The 50-year-old Lancaster, Ohio suspect had rifles, shotguns, multiple handguns, a generic sheriff department shirt, a ballistic vest, police badge, police identification and a large quantity of ammunition.

Scofield is in Summit County Jail. He was arrested for two counts of impersonating a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon, fail to inform law enforcement and obstructing official business.
