Bob Evans hosts fundraiser for slain Akron officer Dec. 15-19

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Bob Evans restaurants in Northeast Ohio are hosting a community fundraiser from December 15-19 in memory of Akron Officer Justin Winebrenner. Officer Winebrenner, was a Wadsworth native, killed in the line of duty on November 16. 

Fifteen percent of all sales, dine in or carry out, from the day will go to the Winebrenner family when customers present the event flyer. The flyer is available on Bob Evans Facebook Page's event tab.

The event will be from open (6 a.m.) to close (10 p.m.).

Northeast Ohio Bob Evans locations in the Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Youngstown markets.

Winebrenner, 32, died after he was shot in the torso trying to escort an unruly patron from Papa Don's Pub on Nov. 16, 2014. He was off duty at the time and had just come from a community fundraiser.

Winebrenner was a seven-year police veteran, a father of a 4-year-old girl and engaged to be married to an employee of Papa Don's Pub, where the shooting occurred.
