Reaction from Mayor Frank G. Jackson:
"My sympathy and prayers go out to the family and friends of Robert T. Bennett at this time of their loss. He was a long-time friend and a strong influence on politics and politicians throughout the State. We could not have brought the RNC to Cleveland without him, he will be missed. His was a loyal and valued friendship above all else. Besides being a personal friend and advocate, Mr. Bennett was a true public servant whose accomplishments span decades and have helped move Cleveland and the State of Ohio forward in a positive way."
Reaction from Governor John R. Kasich:
"I was saddened to learn of the loss of Bob Bennett. Chairman Bennett was a giant of Ohio and national politics. He was a passionate but level-headed advocate for his ideas, a gifted leader and someone who earned the respect of his Democratic opponents even as he was beating them. He worked hard for his party and state and helped launch the careers of a generation of Ohio elected officials. My thoughts and prayers go out to his children and family at this difficult time."
Reaction from Senator Rob Portman:
"Jane and I send our prayers and condolences to Bob's wonderful family. He was an extraordinary leader, not just for the Republican Party but for our entire state. I was one of many who Bob mentored and encouraged, and I will always be deeply grateful to him. His passing is a profound loss for our state."
Reaction from Ohio Secretary Jon Husted:
"Few people have impacted politics the way that Bob Bennett did. We have lost a great leader and a true champion of Ohio.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the innumerable friends and colleagues, candidates and staff who had the pleasure of knowing him."
