Shots fired near an Akron school

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron police responded to a call of shots fired around 1 p.m. on Friday, December 5 on Dover Avenue. Witnesses in the area by a school told police they saw a man on a back porch of a nearby house, firing several shots in the air.

Officers found shell casings in the backyard near the porch, the house was less than 50 feet from a school.

Police found a handgun in the home and arrested Kyree A. Anderson, 19, of Copley Road.

Anderson was charged with discharging a firearm within a school safety zone and booked into the Summit County Jail.

No injuries were reported.
