LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - After months of being closed due to a gas leak, Admiral King Elementary will reopen after Winter Break on January 5, 2015.

In October students and staff were forced to scatter among various sites as crews worked to discover what was causing the odor of gas.

In early December the fire marshal authorized occupancy of the building.

Since then staff have been working diligently get things back to normal.

When the school reopens in January regular bus routes will remain in effect and walkers will return to going directly to the school instead of walking to the library.

School hours will also remain the same.

Students have been instructed to take home all personal items on Friday, December 19 from their current buildings, and bring

them back to Admiral King on January 5.

Packed items will be moved by operations staff over the winter break.

An Open House for students and the community will be held on December 30, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The final plugging phases are currently being finished.

The redesign and reconstruction of the gymnasium is already being developed. Plans and drawings will be submitted to the board in the near future.
