AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night,
were dispatched to the 1400 block of Seminola Ave. for a suspicious vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers spotted an unoccupied red Hyundai parked on the street, with both front windows down.
Officers noticed syringes and a spoon in the center console. While checking several packages left on the backseat, it was discovered that they were addressed to various residents in the Goodyear Heights and Tallmadge areas.
While officers were on scene, they were approached by a 26-year-old Akron man named David James Gonzales.
Gonzales, who stated that he was a heroin user and needed money for rent, was immediately arrested.
He admitted the packages were stolen from various addresses.
Gonzales was charged with six counts of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into the Summit County Jail.
His arraignment hearing was Thursday at the Akron Municipal Court.
The officers delivered the various packages back to the rightful owners.
Several packages that were taken from the Tallmadge neighborhoods were given to the Tallmadge Police Department.
