BROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) - Big box store speculation is brewing in Cleveland with talks of
coming to town.
The potential location would be by Tiedeman Road just off I-480 next to The Plain Dealer facility.
On Friday morning, The Plain Dealer reported it has signed a contract to sell 16 acres to IKEA.
The Brooklyn economic director declined to comment.
Joseph Roth, with IKEA USA, could not confirm a Cleveland store, but says the Cleveland market has been studied for more than 10 years with a high interest from the company.
"From IKEA's perspective, Cleveland has always been on the front burner, we just have never found the perfect location and we continue to evaluate opportunities in the market as they arise," said Roth.
Multiple sources say IKEA had a site team surveying the property on Friday.
