On Friday, December 19, the Stark County Sheriff Department was dispatched to Marlington High School at 10450 Moulin Ave NE, for a possible student with a gun. 

Around 12:21 p.m., the school resource officer received information that a a picture of a gun was sent via text message from a student at the high school to a Marlington Middle School student.

Upon receiving the text, the student notified a teacher who contacted the school administrator.

Marlington High School was immediately locked down and units responded to the location to conduct an investigation.

Deputies soon located the suspect and maintained a safety perimeter around the school. 

The Stark County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Canton Police Department who arrived to assist with a dog search for any additional weapons. At 1:43 pm the school was released from its lock down and students resumed their school activities.
