Purse snatcher wanted after 3 thefts in Akron

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Detectives are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect involved in three separate purse snatching incidents in west Akron.

The first robbery occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Dec. 12 in the 1900 block of West Market Street. Police say the suspect approached the victim as she was walking to her car in the parking lot. The suspect grabbed onto the victim's purse and pulled it from her shoulder, then fled.

The second robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the 800 block of West Market Street. According to police, the suspect opened the victim's car door and grabbed her purse on the front seat. The victim and suspect struggled over the purse, before the suspect gained possession and fled. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The third robbery occurred around 10 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 700 block of West Market Street. The victim was walking with a cup of coffee when the suspect approached her. Police say the suspect punched the victim in the stomach, knocking her to the ground and taking her small red purse. The victim tried to grab the suspect, but police say the suspect punched her again, then fled down Grand Avenue. The victim was not injured.
