Akron Children's requests only healthy visitors

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - With seasonal RSV and influenza activity on the rise in the community, Akron Children's Hospital is asking people who are ill to not visit its Akron and Beeghly campuses for the safety of patients.

All visitors, including family members, should be healthy.

Please do not visit patients if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle aches
  • Chills

Greeters are at all hospital entrances asking visitors about their health status.

"This year, flu has made an early and boisterous arrival," said Dr. John Bower, a pediatric infectious disease specialist. "We are asking for the help of the public and our patient families to help stop the spread of the flu and protect all children in the community, including, of course, our patients."
