More mystery surrounding murdered Cleveland firefighter

Cleveland City Hall has now released to 19 Action News the personnel file of a Cleveland firefighter murdered off-duty, and it adds more mystery.

Theodore Wright died last spring after he had been shot, and crashed into a pole.

The file includes records referring to an incident with Wright suspected of trying to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car in 2007. Earlier, we revealed another strange case with Wright and a juvenile girl from 2006.

Records show one night in April, 2007, Wright was “Identified being in the Third District's Broadway area and trying to entice a juvenile girl.”

Oddly, police never made a full report for that. And Wright's personnel file shows that after the incident, he was ordered to get a drug/alcohol screening.

Back in 2006, Wright told investigators 10-15 guys beat him up when he said he had gone to a home on the near east side to check on a missing juvenile girl. But no attackers were ever arrested.
Wright's killer has not been caught. However, Crime Stoppers and the firefighters union have given a huge boost to the reward money being offered for tips leading to an arrest. If you know anything, call 216-252-7463 or e-mail your tip to
