AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Police believe the "Akron Purse Bandit" has struck again.

Police say shortly before midnight on Monday, a 21-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West Market Street when the suspect walked up behind her, grabbed her purse and fled. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, 15–17 years old, standing 5'6" tall, weighing 140–150 lbs. He was wearing a dark coat and dark hat.

Similar instances have happened in the same area three times already in December and just days apart. On Dec. 12, a 52-year-old woman was heading inside CVS when a man walked up and snatched her purse. On Dec. 17, the suspect opened the door to a 77-year-old woman's car outside of a Walgreens and grabbed her purse after a brief struggle. Then on Dec. 22, a third victim was walking with a cup of coffee outside Angel Falls Coffee when the suspect approached her. Police say the man punched her in the stomach, knocking her to the ground, and then took her purse.

Akron Police believe the incidents are connected. Anyone with more information can contact Akron Police at 330-375-2490 or Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-2677.
