43 Forum: Distinguished Gentlemen of Spoken Word

My second set of guests, from The Distinguished Gentlemen of Spoken Word, talked about how the group of 18 youth (8-18) get together and express themselves by putting their thoughts and some of their life experiences into prose. A couple of the members joined us in studio and one of them, Antoine Morris, recited a poem he often recites when the gentlemen visit schools, senior citizens homes and other groups, including The FBI, The Federal Department of Justice, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and tens of thousands of students across northeast Ohio.

The troop was formed to give young African American males in Greater Cleveland, from poor and often forgotten communities, a chance to channel their feelings and frustrations into a positive expression. They have been so well received that a group visiting Cleveland from France has invited them to come to France to do a series of shows before teens there.
