Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies will welcome us to 2015. A southwest wind will gust over 25 mph today and tonight.  New Year's Day will not be as cold with highs approaching 30.  A weak front will drop in on Friday.  This will increase the clouds and give the lakeshore counties flurries or some light snow.  Minor accumulation is expected.

T'is the season for bowl games! College football is debuting its playoff system as we ring in the new year.
Ohio State was the last team in. They face off against Alabama on New Year's Day in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The winner will advance to the national championship game on January 12 against either Florida State or Oregon. Both teams are 12-1.
“Up to this point, it's been a preparation of a very good defense, a very good offense, and make sure we are on point,” said OSU Head Coach Urban Meyer. “Any time you play a game of this nature, two very good teams, you try and find that edge.”
“I think big plays are going to be a key factor in this game, and that is one of the things that we need to do extremely well in this game – play well in the back end, keep people cut off and minimize their opportunities for big plays,” said Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban.

WASHINGTON, DC (CNN) - The families of those on board AirAsia Flight 8501 are starting to come to grips with reality.
"Until yesterday morning and afternoon, we still hoped we would get a miracle, that our families are still alive,” said Suyono Thejakusuma, a family member of a crash victim.
A reality that there will likely be no survivors.
This as search crews slowly begin to recover wreckage and bodies, and believe the bulk of the aircraft is at the bottom of the Java Sea.
But getting to the wreckage, where most of the answers lie, will not be easy.
Weather is making things difficult.
"It won't change the location of the wreckage but it certainly will change the location of anything that's floating, parts of the plane, any human remains. It will really move them further down with the currents,” said Mary Schiavo, former inspector general of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
It is monsoon season in Southeast Asia and the weather is unpredictable.
At times the seas are calm, but so far those open windows of opportunity are coming at the wrong times.
“Ironically the conditions are amazing, they're great. The storms are gone the clouds are gone, it's not raining. But it's dark, by morning the storms will be back,” said Chad Myers, a CNN meteorologist
